The latest Spurs team news, injury updates and predicted XI as Ange Postecoglu’s side prepare to face the Hatters on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur will be quietly confident about extending their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign when they come up against newly-promoted Luton Town in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off this weekend. Ange Postecoglou’s men made it seven league matches without defeat last time out, seeing off Liverpool in a match that was beset by VAR controversy.

That result was enough to leave Spurs second in the table, just one point behind Manchester City, and they could move to the summit - however briefly - with a win against the Hatters.

For their part, Luton recorded their first win of the season against Everton last weekend, but since went on to lose to fellow strugglers Burnley in midweek. Rob Edwards’ men have taken four points from their opening septet of fixtures, and are currently teetering above the relegation by virtue of goal difference alone.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham are facing something of a minor headache when it comes to injury concerns in wide areas at the present moment in time. While Ivan Perisic is expected to be out for the remainder of the campaign due to an ACL injury, Manor Solomon is facing at least a couple of months out with a torn miniscus that will require surgery. Elsewhere, the prognosis regarding fellow summer signing Brennan Johnson is better, but the hamstring complaint he picked up during last month’s north London derby looks set to rule him out of Saturday’s trip to Kenilworth Road.

Spurs are also understood to be harbouring minor worries about pivotal duo Son Heung-min and James Maddison - both of whom have been carrying knocks for a couple of weeks now, and both of whom might have been rested were Postecoglou not so short on attacking alternatives. Both are likely to feature on Saturday, but whether either will complete a full 90 minutes remains to be seen.

There is better news regarding Bryan Gil, however. The Spaniard is yet to play under Postecoglou, but is expected to be on the bench against Luton having returned to full fitness in recent weeks.

One player who will miss out is Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine midfielder picked up a quad injury against Fulham in the Carabao Cup a few weeks ago, and is yet to make a return to full training - although his recovery is said to be progressing well. Likewise, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon both remain sidelined, and are both predominantly training away from the rest of the first team squad at this stage.

Spurs’ only other absence is reserve goalkeeper Alfie Whitman, who suffered an ankle injury during pre-season.

Guglielmo Vicario; Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie; Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma; Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Richarlison; Son Heung-min.

Luton Town Team News

Luton have a number of injury concerns of their own heading into the weekend. Jordan Clark, Gabriel Osho, Daniel Potts, and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all unavailable for the Hatters, while Ross Barkley has not featured since early September due to a hamstring issue.
