The plethora of pre-season friendly games have only just begun but that has not stopped the social media warriors dusting down the editing equipment to identify the newest 'flop' of the summer.

Mason Mount fell victim to it this week following Manchester United's 2-0 win over Leeds United in Norway. Pre-season is well underway, marked by the usual traditions of wholesale changes at half time, some Premier League sides gracing their lower league neighbours with a visit only to send their youth side as their senior players jet off elsewhere.

Mount will not be the only victim of an ill-natured social media edit this summer, as rival fans try to get their digs in early. And as the rumour mill continues to swirl here’s some of the latest and biggest transfer stories from the Premier League this Sunday.

Munich confident as Kane pursuit continues

Bayern Munich executive Uli Hoeness believes Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane will join the Bundesliga club this summer, as he opened up on the club’s interest in the England international to German media.

Speaking to Kicker, he said: “So far, Harry has made it very clear in all talks that his decision is there. And if it stays, then we’ll get him. Then Tottenham will have to give in.

“He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe. What we all like is that he and his advisors - his father and brother - have always clearly stood by what they promised - until now . If it stays that way, that’s okay.”

3AM verdict: A move to Bayern Munich is clearly an attractive proposition for Kane. The striker is England’s record goalscorer and with 213 goals in the Premier League, only Alan Shearer trumps him in that department. However, his trophy count is the subject of mocking and criticism and Bayern is a place where he is likely to add some major honours to his CV. Munich have won the last 11 Bundesliga titles and will also be eyeing a charge in the Champions League in their first full season under Thomas Tuchel.

Henderson ‘agrees three-year deal’

Jordan Henderson has ‘agreed a three-year deal’ with Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq as talks are ongoing between the clubs over a transfer fee.

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims the lack of agreement between the clubs is because of Al Ettifaq’s belief they could sign Henderson for free, despite the former Sunderland player having two years remaining on his contract at Anfield.

Unlike Liverpool teammate Fabinho, Henderson has travelled to Germany for the club’s pre-season training camp. He appears open to a move away with Steven Gerrard recently appointed manager of the Saudi side but a deal now hinges on the clubs reaching an agreement.

3AM verdict: It is a potential transfer that has raised a number of eyebrows, with Henderson viewed as part of Liverpool’s plans until the interest from Saudi Arabia. The contract offer on the table is clearly an attractive one - but the Reds are highly unlikely to sanction a cheap fee having spent £95m already this summer. With Fabinho also linked with a £40m move, Liverpool will need to re-enter the market for a new midfielder and if Henderson does leave, more money will need to be spent. This deal appears to hinge on whether Al Ettifaq will meet Liverpool’s asking price.

West Ham to target Maguire after Rice deal sealed

West Ham are eyeing a loan move for United defender Harry Maguire after confirming Declan Rice’s £105m move to Arsenal.

The Telegraph reports the Hammers are ready to test Maguire’s resolve to remain at Old Trafford, with the England international eager to fight for his place under Erik ten Hag, despite being behind Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the pecking order at United.

The 30-year-old made just eight Premier League starts last term with the defender not viewed as a first-choice option for Ten Hag at the centre of the United defence, with Victor Lindelof also providing competition in that position.

3AM verdict: Maguire looks like he is going to have a hard time convincing Erik ten Hag to move him up the pecking order at Old Trafford and West Ham’s interest appears to suggest the Hammers will make the defender among their first-choice options. The former Sheffield United and Hull City man has endured a difficult time since an £80m move to Old Trafford and despite his reported desire to stay and fight for his place, a fresh start away from the pressure of his hefty price tag may be exactly what he needs to regain confidence.
