Liverpool take on Manchester City on Sunday afternoon in a massive match with significant implications for the Premier League title race – but both sides have injury problems to contend with, so we’ve compiled all the latest team news and our predicted line-ups.

Jürgen Klopp’s side have the longer list of fitness concerns, although their fans’ worries will be eased by Mohamed Salah’s return to action on Thursday evening as a substitute in the 5-1 Europa League win over Sparta Prague. They are still set to go into the game without at least nine players, however, with fresh doubts over the fitness of Ibrahima Konaté and Jayden Danns.

Manchester City, on the other hand, have question marks over just three players with Jack Grealish likely to be out and midfielder Mathues Nunes potentially unavailable after suffering a stomach-churning broken finger in their routine Champions League defeat of FC København.

All the latest team news for both sides is available below, and if you’re after some injury updates for your Fantasy Premier League team then you can read our high-flying manager’s regular advice column by clicking here.

Liverpool team news

Salah’s return to action suggests that he is fully recovered from the hamstring injury which he sustained in the Africa Cup of Nations and then aggravated during the recent win over Brentford – but other recent injury victims remain out of action.

Alisson (hamstring), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Curtis Jones (shin) and Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) are all unavailable until the end of the month at least, Diogo Jota (knee) could miss much of the rest of the season while Joël Matip (cruciate ligament), Thiago Alcântra (hamstring), Ben Doak (knee) and Stefan Bajčetić (calf) are all long-term absentees who may not feature again in the 2023/24 campaign.

In addition there are fresh concerns for centre-half Konaté, who limped off against Sparta – a substitution which Klopp described as “a precaution” – and young striker Danns, who suffered a concussion when he collided with Mats Selz during the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool predicted line-up

Kelleher; Robertson, Van Dijk, Konaté, Bradley; Mac Allister, Elliott, Szoboszlai; Díaz, Salah, Núñez.

Manchester City team news

Pep Guardiola’s side only have one confirmed absentee for Sunday’s showdown – winger Grealish remains out with the groin injury which has plagued him since January and which has prevented him from playing more than 3 minutes in the Premier League over the course of City’s last six matches. He is expected to return after the March international break.

Fellow left-winger Jérémy Doku, who was left out of the squad for the midweek Champions League match, picked up a knock in the Manchester Derby and is a doubt for this weekend, with updates awaited in Guardiola’s pre-match press conference.

Finally, summer signing Nunes may miss out after a badly broken finger forced him off the pitch against FC København in the second half, and while he may be able to play with hand protection, the images made it quite clear that the break was particularly severe. Guardiola should otherwise have a full slate of players to choose from with Joško Gvardiol back to full match fitness after a recent injury.

Manchester City predicted line-up

Ederson; Gvardiol, Dias, Stones, Walker; Rodri, Bernardo, De Bruyne; Álvarez, Foden, Haaland.
