Liverpool have banked maximum points in their opening Premier League fixtures, coming away with 2-0 wins against both Ipswich Town and Brentford. Their next big test will be a visit to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, who lost 2-1 to Brighton last time out.
Form is in Arne Slot’s favour, with two wins and two clean sheets so far in his debut Premier League campaign. The 45-year-old will face fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag on the road with a big chance to secure a statement win. Let’s take a look at Liverpool’s latest updates and how Slot might lineup to take on the Red Devils.

Liverpool have finally signed their first player of the summer window, but he won’t be with them until next year. The Reds agreed a £25 million deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, plus £4 million in add-ons, but he will remain in Spain for the 2024/25 season.
They have also finalised the signing of Federico Chiesa from Juventus. The winger was officially announced on Thursday following a successful medical and the agreement of a £12.5 million total deal with the Italian club.
Since Liverpool finalised his arrival and registered him as an official player in time, he will be eligible to feature against United. Fans can likely expect to see Chiesa this weekend against United, as he will probably give fans a glimpse of what he can do with a second half substitute appearance.
Following the sale of both Fábio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg to Brentford, the Reds have also sanctioned the departure of Bobby Clark, who has been reunited with Pep Lijnders at RB Salzburg.

Curtis Jones missed out on Liverpool’s last outing against Brentford due to a suspected groin injury picked up during training. Slot has provided an update on the midfielder’s fitness, as he remains a doubt ahead of the upcoming clash with United.
“It’s going to be close, so we have to wait and see. It’s always difficult to see how an injury evolves during the upcoming week,” the Dutchman said during a press conference. “He’s not going to be out for a long time, but it’s going to be close for him to be there next week. But I’m quite sure he’s going to try everything to be ready for next week.”
Predicted XI
Apart from replacing Jarell Quansah with Ibrahima Konaté, Slot has kept the same starting lineup in his first two fixtures, and it’s to be expected that he will continue with the same against United as he navigates these early stages. Liverpool’s front three are in fine form so far, with two goals for Mohamed Salah and one each for Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz. The £151 million trio will be crucial in getting Slot off to a good start against United.
Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota.
