Amorim to force ‘disruptive’ player out of Man Utd as Chelsea contemplate double sale

The latest Premier League transfer rumours, featuring news from Manchester United, Chelsea and Wolves.

Welcome to Saturday’s digest of the biggest and boldest Premier League transfer rumours – and unusually, today’s stories don’t concern incoming players but instead focus on potential January sales.

Let’s kick off with a report from GiveMeSport, which claims that new Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim isn’t wasting any time in clearing out the deadwood – citing reports in the Turkish media, the story states that Amorim wants “disruptive” £82m flop Antony gone “before playing a single minute.”

This is good news for Istanbul outfit Beşiktaş, whose are looking for a winger and could make an offer to take Antony on loan this winter. The Brazilian was on their shortlist over the summer, and with Amorim’s arrival there is hope for getting a deal done. United, it seems, would be happy to sanction a loan move.

The 3AM Verdict: Whether Amorim wants Antony gone, as the article implies, or whether it’s just the policy of the transfer team at Old Trafford, it does sounds as if a six-month loan deal is the best that United will be able to do for now, and it seems pretty clear that they would like to get Antony off the wage bill to whatever extent they can. A successful loan move could potentially encourage a buyer next summer. Not that they’re getting their money back.

Chelsea primed for double bid

News now from West London – Chelsea could find themselves with a chance to offload not one, but two players that don’t have a role in Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans this January, with Juventus primed to make bids for both Cesare Casadei and Ben Chilwell.

Casadei was linked with Juve in the summer and according to Tuttosport, they have now “resumed the thread of talks” for the Italy Under-21 international full-back, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City. Furthermore, the Turin giants are “also looking” at Chilwell, who could be available for “a bargain price.”

The 3AM Verdict: Both players that Chelsea would probably be happy to sell, although we note a lack of details regarding the finances or even any mention about whether these moves would actually happen in the winter or next summer. An entirely plausible rumour pairing, anyway.

Wolves man wants out

Last up today, we’ve got a rumour which has a Wolverhampton Wanderers player leaving the club very soon – although according to Sport Witness, Gonçalo Guedes may find it “complicated” to arrange a permanent move, with Wolves wanting £20m for his services, rather more than interested parties such as Villarreal (who had him on loan earlier this year) would be prepared to part with.

Caught Offside also ran this story and go as far as to suggest that Guedes is actively pushing for a move – they state that they have sources who say that the player is “deeply unhappy” at Molineux, presumably due to a lack of playing time. It looks like another loan move is more likely than a permanent one, at least in January.

The 3AM Verdict: Gary O’Neil clearly doesn’t see Guedes as an important first-team player and we’re pretty surprised that he isn’t on loan somewhere already, given that he hasn’t started a single game for Wolves in the Premier League this season. With opportunities unlikely to improve, we wouldn’t be surprised if Wolves let him leave again – but a replacement would be needed, otherwise depth would start to become a concern.
