The latest Premier League transfer rumours, featuring news from Manchester United, West Ham, Brighton, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Welcome to Wednesday’s breakdown of the biggest Premier League transfer rumours currently circulating around the world’s media – and we’ve got news for fans of five teams today, starting with an update that should be of interest to Manchester United supporters.

According to The Daily Mail, new manager Rúben Amorim is getting ready to swing the axe on Manchester United’s struggling squad already – they claim that the Portuguese coach is “not too keen” on €42.5m (£35.3m) summer signing Joshua Zirkzee, and as such the club are preparing to move on already.

Zirkzee scored on his debut against Fulham but has failed to find the back of the net a single time since, and now it sounds like United are “ready to consider” loan offers in January, with reports in Italy claiming that Juventus would be keen to snap up the former Bologna forward.

The 3AM Verdict: Zirkzee has been played out of position at centre-forward and has found it tough to adapt, but Amorim’s usual 3-4-3 system would have more room for him – the narrow inside forward role is similar to that which the Dutchman played at Bologna. We suspect Amorim will want to see how he fares in a more familiar position before cutting the cord, and doubt that he has developed such a strong opinion within a day of landing at Manchester airport.

Lopetegui demands Seagulls swoop

West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui may be under increasing pressure thanks to a poor run of results, but that isn’t preventing him from “demanding” at least one new signing in January, according to Caught Offside – apparently, the Spaniard is dead set on signing Brighton & Hove Albion full-back Tariq Lamptey.

The 24-year-old has found his chances limited at the Amex Stadium over the past year or so, with injuries a part of the problem, but it seems that the Hammers are keen to revive his career. Lamptey’s contract ends next summer, which means any deal would likely be nice and cheap, but no price tag is suggested in this report. It seems that Nottingham Forest, Everton and Brentford have all expressed an interest in the Ghanaian as well, but without making any moves.

The 3AM Verdict: Lamptey deserves a second chance at the Premier League and West Ham make as much sense as any of the other sides mentioned, with Lopetegui’s style of play likely to benefit from an injection of speed down the flanks. It’s director of football Tim Steidten who holds the power in the transfer market, however, so Lopetegui’s wishes may count for little – and even less if he gets fired.

Big dogs set sights on great Dane

Finally, we’ve got a story from TeamTalk, who claim that no fewer than three of the Premier League’s biggest sides are chasing 22-year-old left-back Daniel Svensson, who has caught the eye while plying his trade for FC Nordsjælland in the Danish Superliga.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all interested in the Sweden international, who recently earned his first cap, and there is a belief at his club that he will leave next summer. It isn’t known whether he has a release clause, it would seem, but he would “not break the bank”.

The 3AM Verdict: Svensson is an attack-minded wing-back who is developing into a superb crosser of the ball and has a fine passing range, too, exactly the sort of player that most modern sides are looking for down the flanks. There will be plenty of bids for Svensson next summer, so it will be interesting to see which English sides make a move.
