Nottingham Forest have caught everyone by surprise this season in the Premier League. They are currently sat in 3rd place in the table behind Liverpool and Arsenal after their recent impressive run of form.
The Reds have clicked under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo and have their sights firmly set on reaching the Champions League against the odds. They have the chance to bolster their ranks this winter ahead of the second-half of the campaign.

The Hammers have slipped down to 14th and will need to be careful if teams below them start getting some wins. Potter has the opportunity to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad over the next couple of weeks.
West Ham eye Taiwo Awoniyi at Nottingham Forest
West Ham have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi this month, as per journalist Florian Plettenberg on X. He would bolster Potter’s attacking ranks between now and the summer as they look to score some more goals.
Awoniyi, who is 27-years-old, isn’t a regular starter at The City Ground anymore and is under contract until 2027. He has fallen down the pecking order behind the prolific Chris Wood which means his long-term future is up in the air.

The Hammers would be able to offer him more game time which is what he needs at this moment in time. However, Forest may have reservations about letting him go as it would leave them short up top.
Therefore, West Ham should try and tempt them into selling them Awoniyi by offering Ings as part of a deal. That would suit both parties and ensure neither are getting left worse off.
Why Danny Ings would suit Nottingham Forest
Ings would be an ideal short-term option for Nottingham Forest as they look to get into Europe. He would provide back-up to Wood and would be ready to make an impact when called upon, a role he plays already anyway at West Ham.

Hide AdThe Reds are brilliant on the counter attack and like to sit back and catch teams out with the pace of Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Wood has been able to score the majority of goals by letting the wingers do the work and by being a poacher in the box and that style of play suits Ings more than it does the pacey Awoniyi.
He would also inject more experience into Forest’s dressing room which will come in handy over the coming weeks and months. The 32-year-old has played over 400 games in his career, many of which have come at the top level.
Ings has played for the likes of Burnley, Liverpool, Southampton and West Ham in the past and is not ready to hang up his boots anytime soon. If the Reds let Awoniyi go, he should be on their radar in return.
