It really would not be a summer transfer window if we did not have at least one saga to keep us excited throughout the absence of on-field action.

Sadly, the one surrounding Jude Bellingham’s future looks over before it really got underway as the England star reportedly closes in on a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid - but what is this? One of Bellingham’s Three Lions team-mates looks set to take control of the summer after Harry Kane gave a vague answer to questions over his future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking after he put in a man of the match display as Spurs relegated Leeds United on Sunday, the England captain told BT Sport: “A club this size should not be finishing eighth and we need to go away, enjoy a break and look how we can improve. It is part and parcel of being a footballer (speculation about leaving) especially when you are at the top of your game. I have focused on this season and helping the team as much as possible. I am just looking forward to a nice break and some games with England.”

So Kane is looking forward to a break, but the same can not be said of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League after ending the season in fifth place in the Premier League table and that has led some to speculate the former Borussia Dortmund boss could be in for a hectic summer as he looks to reinvigorate and refresh his squad.

However, it seems Klopp is up for the challenge if his comments following Sunday’s 4-4 draw at Southampton are anythign to go by. He said: “I don’t feel like I need a break, not at all. Honestly I’m completely fine. If you’d have asked me 11 games ago if you want to have a break, then I’d have thought about it, to be honest! But I’m absolutely fine, full of energy.

“I have a break – I don’t have training and those kind of things – but a pretty busy period hopefully starts now as well in a different area of the game and I’m more than happy to do that. I will find time to re-energise and then we start again in July.”

Leicester City’s plans for the summer have more than likely taking quite a severe change after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.

The Mirror have suggested a firesale is on the cards at the King Power Stadium and they believe James Maddison all but ended his career as a Fox by waving goodbye to supporters in the aftermath of Sunday’s home win against West Ham United. They have also placed question marks over the future of winger Harvey Barnes and former England striker Jamie Vardy, who has one year remaining on his current deal.
