Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford are among the players carrying knocks into this week’s matches and the pair are among six who could miss the coming games, although there has at least been a positive update regarding the fitness of one of their stricken players, Patrick Dorgu.

With the game against Roma just hours away, we’ve collected all of the latest Manchester United injury news below ahead of two games which could determine whether Michael Carrick continues as the club’s head coach.

There has been particular doubt over the status of Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw in the build-up to this week’s games, but Carrick has now provided a modicum of clarity about when the pair might next be involved.

Rashford, who has missed the last three matchday squads due to a lingering hip injury, was said to be “day by day,” with Carrick suggesting that the forward would be back in the side soon – but he stopped short of implying that the 29-year-old would be fit to face Roma on Tuesday evening.

Shaw, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the Roma and Aston Villa matches due to an undisclosed muscular injury which has already sidelined him for the last three weeks. Aside from stating that he would not be available during his press conference on Monday, Carrick refused to elaborate on when the left-back might return to action.

It was also noteworthy that there was no suggestion that Ivorian winger Amad Diallo would miss any time after limping from the field during the second half at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Amad appeared to have sustained a leg injury, but has returned to team training immediately and was not referenced as an injury worry during Carrick’s latest update. It has also been confirmed that other two players who picked up recent knocks, Leny Yoro and Harry Amass, were both in full training and available for selection if required.

Carrick has also provided an unexpectedly positive update on Patrick Dorgu, who has been sidelined by a hamstring injury he sustained on international duty with Denmark.

The wing-back wasn’t expected to return this side of the November international break, but Carrick told the press that he was back in full team training ahead of schedule, although he won’t be in the squad for the game against Roma.

"He's worked ever so hard to be back with the group, but he won’t be involved tomorrow,” Carrick told the press. “We’ll see how he progresses through the week but, yeah, it’s great to have him back.”

Manchester United will, however, have to make do without striker Benjamin Šeško (shin) who isn’t expected back until early January and midfielder Manuel Ugarte (ACL) who will hope to return to training in the late Spring.

They will also be without Lisandro Martínez for Sunday’s game against Aston Villa as a result of the automatic one-game suspension that he will serve after being sent off against Chelsea last weekend. The Argentine will, however, be available to face Roma.
