The Ruben Amorim era is officially underway at Manchester United and it seems the Old Trafford hierarchy will waste little time in backing their new head coach.
Just over two weeks have passed since the former Portugal international officially took charge of the Red Devils and he oversaw his first game in the Premier League at Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon. Amorim will be keen to see his squad strengthened over the coming transfer windows as he looks to haul his newly-inherited up the table over the coming weeks.

Hide AdGerman journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed the Red Devils are ‘discussing and considering’ a move for Atalanta’s £50m-rated midfielder Ederson, who played an integral role in helping the Serie A club to their Europa League Final win against Bayer Leverkusen last season. The Brazilian star has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the last 12 months and Newcastle United were said to have a strong interest in the midfielder. However, Plettenberg has claimed Manchester United could well look to steal a march on the Magpies in the January transfer window.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Manchester United are discussing and considering Éderson, a player who is highly valued internally. The club is looking for reinforcement in his position, possibly as early as the winter transfer window. The 25-year-old central midfielder has a contract with Atalanta Bergamo until 2027. One to watch.”
The 3AM Verdict: There is absolutely no doubting Ederson’s quality and he looks like a player made for the Premier League. Any deal would prove to be costly and the Red Devils would have to see off interest from several other suitors to sign a player who would give them some solidity in their midfield ranks.
Seagulls striker had loan interest
Burnley are reportedly hoping to make an ambitious move for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson during the January transfer window.

Hide AdSpeaking via his Patreon account, Nixon has reported Brighton are considering sending the Republic of Ireland international out on loan during the second half of the season and there are suggestions Ferguson would like to remain in the Premier League.
Leicester City, who parted company with manager Steve Cooper on Sunday, are said to be keen as they look to avoid an immediate return to the Championship - but they would have to sign the striker on a permanent deal as they already have two players on loan from Premier League rivals. Burnley are said to be hoping to take advantage by securing Ferguson’s services during the second half of the season as they look to claim promotion back into the top tier.

The 3AM Verdict: Ferguson has not quite hit the heights many expected of him after he made a blistering start to life in the Premier League. Sometimes it is easy to forget he is still young and is finding his way in his career. A loan move may not be the worst idea to spark an upturn in fortunes.
Magpies ‘working on a deal’ for Chelsea target
Newcastle United are keen to add a defender to their squad during the January transfer window - depending on where you get your transfer speculation.

Hide AdThe Magpies were keen to secure a deal for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi during the summer and were unsuccessful with three or four separate offers for the England international. Some outlets have suggested their interest remains alive - but others have stated the fact centre-back duo Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are closing in on a return to fitness after long-term injuries means the Magpies could strengthen elsewhere in their squad.

However, Football Insider have now claimed the Magpies WILL look to add a defender to their squad in the new year and are now working on a deal for Benfica and Portugal star Tomas Araujo, who was linked with a move to Chelsea earlier this month.
The 3AM Verdict: Newcastle’s interest in any defender, whether that be Araujo or Guehi, will surely depend on how quickly Lascelles and Botman can get up to speed when they return to contention. ‘Interest’ in Araujo would hardly be a surprise after he made rapid progress and both club and international level.
